In comparing Twitter to a BlackBoard discussion, I think you'd find Twitter easier in reading the discussion.  In a BlackBoard discussion, you have to click on links constantly to read everything discussed, where as with Twitter, you can search with the pound sign and everything comes up right in front of you and you can read it all because all comments are short.  With that said, that would make BlackBoard better in that it allows you to write as much as you have to say about the discussion.

Another comparison is that in Twitter, it might be harder to follow along with what's discussed if people aren't using the @ and # and RT correctly, whereas with BlackBoard, the subject matter is all in one thread easily for you to find.

Out of all of the choices though, I would say an In-Class discussion would be the best because it would better represent what the speaker has to say, as most people can express their thoughts more clearly than they can spell or write out.  You could also hear their emotions better.  Also, In Class discussion is best because reading everyone's responses can be tiring and boring and your eyes start to glaze and you don't want to read anymore, whereas listening to them speak in person is easier so you are able to actually listen to everyone and skim through their response.
